The ComVu PocketCaster- a legendary breakthrough at Technical Reviews and Free Cellphone / Mobile downloads

The ComVu PocketCaster is the world’s first live video broadcast service for 3G mobile phones and other portable platforms. PocketCaster allows users to transmit live video from the mobile phone that they always have with them to their video blog or homepage. The video streams directly to ComVu media-servers, where it can be shared live or on-demand with viewers on PCs, Macs and mobile phones. Anyone using a Nokia N95 device can now capture and broadcast video directly to air and concurrently stream live video to Web-portals, blogs and 3G-enabled phones.

Through this application, the video stream is received by ComVu automated streaming server network. From there it is propagated. This allows the video to be broadcast to as many concurrent viewers as you require.

Using a mobile device that has an integrated or external Bluetooth GPS receiver, you can embed the GPS co-ordinates location data in the stream. When running on a Nokia N95 with built-in GPS receiver, PocketCaster automatically embeds geospatial coordinates within each frame of video, providing accurate dynamic mapping of transmission points during a broadcast. When the viewers watch the video, either live or on-demand, they will see a dynamic satellite image with your position (in Google Earth). You can get in touch with contacts through SMS text message or email from the mobile application itself.

PocketCaster eliminates the costs and time delays of uploading media through a PC or Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), uniquely addressing the need for immediacy, flexibility and affordability in mobile news gathering.

In the broadcasting industry, delivering information to viewers quickly is essential. ComVu’s PocketCaster and Mobile Video Studio are designed to help broadcasters efficiently capture and deliver breaking news stories from field reporters and citizen journalists.
