Domain Relocation
This feature has been created so that you as a client/ domain owner can shift from one hosting company to another without any hindrance. This is an excellent feature because if the registrars don’t provide adequate security, the clients have rights to shift to other servers.
But this domain relocation is often a huge security risk, because registrars though obliged to verify relocation requests don’t often do it. Smart hackers often officially transfer domain information from one server to another when security is weak.
One of the best ways to tackle this is to register your domain with companies which employ ‘domain lock’ feature. Once the lock is activated, nobody can transfer names to different companies, unless the “lock” is opened.
Domain Squatting
If you plan to build a successful business, ensure you pick up all the top level Domains (TLD) and also some of the most common typos around your domain name. If not you’ll see that other folks will pick those domains and try to cash in on your efforts and reputation.
Wrong online address
It is the duty of the domain hosting company to send reminders to domain owners to renew when it nears expiry date. It is common practice for them to send you e-mails asking you to renew your registration by paying the fees. Be aware of your registration date and look out for e-mail, if you don’t renew your domain will expire and someone else will register your name.
Ensure you give valid and in use mail id so that you are aware of which domain needs to be renewed and ensure you do it on time. Once gone and if someone registers it, most likely you’ll not get the domain back and even if you have to, you’ll be forced to pay a high price.
