The latest series of SUVs released by Audi is equipped with flexible cruise control, blind-spot detection and warning and lot more advanced features which makes one think whether the car drives by itself.
The Audi Q7 has finally been able to integrate some features promised by Tron nearly 25 years ago. It’s 5½ ft long sunroof provides the best views of the starry nights and everything in the car is operated by a small in-built computer processor. No need of switching, lights etc, the cars computer will decide on that.
Though it seems unbelievable in the beginning the features available are simply amazing. The blind-spot detection which lights up the LEDs mounted on the side mirrors when the in-built radar detects a vehicle in your blindspot. Included in the Q7 are a camera, a graphics chart to map entry and distance from other cars and objects, an flexible cruise control which increases or decreases the car’s speed depending on the traffic conditions ahead by coalescing with the car’s radar.
At 5,400 lbs, the Q7 is a big car and is a fuel guzzler. There are several versions and the most powerful one equipped with a 4.2 liter revs from 0 to 60 in just seven seconds, commendable indeed. A unique feature of Q7 is its accommodation, seven people can comfortably fit into the car. Not many in its class has so much space. There are plugs, slots and holders for power, bottles in the body, dashboard and the door. Only in one aspect the Q7 is user-unfriendly i.e the automatic liftgate switch is too high, 7ft from ground level.
